Operations Manager

Job Title:         Operations Manager

FT/PT:             Full Time, 40+ hours per week

Status:             Salaried/Exempt

Primary Function: The General Manager is responsible for overseeing day-of-show activities for artists and related guests from start to finish including artist settlements as well as managing the operational staff and overseeing all needs related to Facilities/Housekeeping and Security.


  • Reviews and understands contracts & agreements to ensure profitability; ensures that all shows and events are executed to the company/organization’s standards
  • Responsible for active management of outside vendors including concessionaire, security, law enforcement, and medical vendors
  • Knowledge of contractual agreements with vendors associated with venue/building within scope of responsibilities
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for all cost controls/inventories and efficiencies
  • Ensure that all cost centers including but not limited to controllable expenses, labor and vendor agreements are overseen and within budgetary guidelines
  • Hires, trains and schedules assigned full and part-time employees, and works closely with all subcontractors and/or third-party vendors
  • Performs and executes successful settlement of events
  • Performs and executes timely reports after events/shows
  • Forecasts operational expenses for shows, events and venue overall
  • Ensures that all shows are executed properly, to the artist/tour and organization/company’s satisfaction
  • Coordinates day of show/event activities and matters, effectively communicates to all necessary parties and persons in advance
  • Day to day management of all venue vendors/subcontractors – HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, Cleaning, Security, Trash/Recycling, Maintenance etc.
  • Advance each show with tour security directors and fulfill tour security requirements
  • Responsible for being on site for each event prior to load in and until load out
  • Manages physical venue/facility/parking areas to ensure proper operation, maintenance and repair
  • Taking merch inventory prior to show, accounting for all merchandise sold, settling with merch sales representative, depositing merch cash, provide merch sales documentation/reports after each show
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 2+ years previous experience in concert venue or theater operations or other related experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Hospitality or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to provide effective leadership, engage in positive interaction with staff and guests, and to diffuse difficult situations with tact
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Ability to work as a member of the team and independently, with strong self-motivation and effective time management skills.

  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
