When frontman Dave Simonett formed the group Trampled by Turtles as a side project, he had never played blue grass music before. Thieves had just stolen almost all his musical gear, leaving Dave with only his acoustic guitar, and he decided to make the most of it by exploring bluegrass music. Dave filled Trampled by Turtle’s lineup with other newcomers to the genre including fiddler Ryan Young, bassist Tim Saxhaug, mandolinist Erik Berry, and banjo player Dave Carroll. The group quickly began carving out a fast, frenetic sound that owed as much to rock & roll as to bluegrass. For a genre steeped in tradition, Trampled by Turtles showcases a contemporary sound, bridging the gap between rock and acoustic. They’ve since built an international following with their D.I.Y. aesthetic and innovative brand of roots music. In addition to major bluegrass and folk festivals, they have appeared at Coachella, ACL Fest, and Lollapalooza. They’ve also gone on tour with bands like Lord Huron, Wilco, Caamp, Mt Joy, and Deer Tick to name a few.
Formed by longtime friends, Lynn Nicholson and Jon Swain, Debutants have evolved into a formidable string band with eclectic influences ranging from traditional folk, bluegrass, and Irish music, to classic and indie rock, rockabilly, jam bands, and anything else they feel like playing. Regardless of genre, what always manages to come through loud and clear, whether in-studio or on stage, is the amount of fun they’re having playing together, and the vibrant life breathed into their music. Nicholson and Swain share the role of lead singer/songwriter for the group, with much collaboration in each song’s development. On their 2021 debut release, Indiana Newgrass – EP, Debutants went into the studio with banjoist Michael Earl Newsome, fiddle player Sean Hoffman (Goldmine Pickers, The Goat’s Beards, Soltré), and bassist/vocalist Colin Taylor (Uncle Muscle, Hillbilly Casino). Also highly instrumental in capturing their original sound, was recording engineer and producer Tyler Thompson (Fruition, TK & The Holy Know-Nothings, Jay Cobb Anderson) at his Studio 110 in Pittsburgh, PA. For their 2022 sophomore release, Nobody Knows – EP, the band unquestionably returned to Thompson’s Studio 110, this time bringing Lauren Blair on fiddle/vocals, and Ellen Coplin on cello/vocals. Their songwriting growth became evident on titles such as Nicholson’s ‘Hard to Say’, along with increases in tempos and instrumental prowess demonstrated on pieces like Swain’s ‘Never Thought I’d Be the One’.

Is there an age requirement to attend concerts?
Many of the events at The Clyde are all ages, but not all of them. Before purchasing tickets to an event at The Clyde, please check the event page for age restrictions.
If you wish to bring children to an all-ages event, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the event in order to determine the age appropriateness of its content. It is always up to the parent/guardian to make the determination if an event is age appropriate for his/her child.
Events at The Clyde feature loud music for long durations. We encourage you to provide appropriate equipment (noise-canceling headphones or earplugs) for your child to protect his/her hearing.
Are there seats?
We are committed to ensuring that every guest has an outstanding experience. Our Premier Experience section is always available with seating. For regular ticketing, many of our shows include reserved seating on the main floor. But every show is different, so please refer to the seating chart on the event details page for the particular event you are interested in attending. If you have special needs, please talk to one of our friendly staff for assistance.

How can I rent The Clyde for a private party?
With 21,000 square feet of space in our main performance hall, we can accommodate events of up to 2,000 people (standing room format) or 350 with round seating tables. This flexible space can be used to host a variety of large events including corporate gatherings, fundraisers, and receptions. For more information, please visit our Private Events page.
Also located next to the The Clyde is Quimby Hall, Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana’s place to gather for receptions, banquets, weddings, and events.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available in our 6-acre parking lot located along Bluffton Road and behind the theatre. Once this lot is filled, overflow parking is also available in front of and behind the Foster Park Plaza retail center to our west. To help us be good neighbors, please refrain from parking in the lots for Hainan House or other surrounding businesses. We highly encourage our guests to use a ride-share program like Uber and Lift. Handicap parking spaces are available.
What items aren't allowed inside the venue?
The Clyde staff is dedicated to creating a safe and fun environment for all patrons who attend our venue. With that in mind, we take the safety and security of our staff and patrons seriously. Prior to entering the building, all guests will be searched by wand, pat down, or metal detector and may be asked to empty pockets. All bags will be searched.
Please enjoy your time at The Clyde without the following items:
- No guns, knives, weapons, pepper spray, projectiles of any kind, or any other item that could be used to inflict harm
- Replicas of weapons also are NOT permitted
- No drugs or drug paraphernalia, illegal substances of any kind
- No outside food or drinks
- No outside folding chairs or camping chairs
- No personal video cameras, GoPros, selfie sticks, drones, masks, or laser pointers
- No professional photo, video, or audio recording equipment – (including detachable lenses, tripods, zooms, or commercial use rigs)
- No unsealed liquids or gels of any kind
- No jewelry or clothing that could inflict harm, including chain wallets
- No large bags (over 10″ x 10″), backpacks, CamelBaks, or bota bags
- No stuffed animals or toys of any kind
