Billy Currington is a Georgia native who possess one of the smoothest and most distinct voices in any genre of music. He is best known for delivering upbeat summer anthems, but also likes to explore the ins and outs of life and love with a poignant ballad. Growing up in rural Georgia and listening to country music, Billy decided at the age of ten that he wanted to perform on stage. It wasn’t until he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 18 did his music career start to take off. Getting his “music education” at night by playing in local bars all over Nashville and relentlessly writing and recording demos, Billy signed with Mercury Records in 2003. His self-titled debut album immediately garnered attention with his first single, “Walk a Little Straighter,” which peaked at No. 8, an auspicious debut for a newcomer. Since then he has had eleven career No. 1 singles including “Must Be Doin’ Something Right,” “Good Directions,” “People Are Crazy,” and most recently, “It Don’t Hurt Like It Use To,” just to name a few. A multitude of impressive accolades followed such as a Grammy nod for best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Throughout the years Billy’s style has matured, but his one goal of capturing the feeling of a moment in time has remained the same. “Music is a snapshot of people’s lives and most of all, I want to leave people in a happy place,” says Billy.
